Perseverance

 

Perseverance is a virtue of the cardinal virtue of Fortitude, and growing in the virtue of perseverance is about enduring physical challenges. Here are some examples of better habits you can exercise every day to grow in the virtue of perseverance:

 

Rest

  • Practice the 3-2-1 bedtime routine:

    • Stop eating 3 hours before bedtime.

    • Stop drinking 2 hours before bedtime.

    • Stop looking at screens 1 hour before bedtime.

  • Go to bed and wake up at the same time to rest 7-9 hours consistently.

  • Get out of bed immediately without snoozing the alarm.

 

Strengthen

  • Walk fast to strengthen cardiovascular fitness.

  • Use resistance band exercises to increase muscle pliability.

  • Use bodyweight, dumbbell, barbell, and weight machine exercises to build stronger muscles.

 

Medicate

  • Take medically necessary medication as directed by your physician.

  • Take OTC medication as needed to control allergies, etc.

  • Take supplements as directed by your physician to correct vitamin deficiencies.
