Obey Rightful Authority
Obeying rightful authority is one of the better habits to exercise every day. Since Jesus said "repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God" (Matthew 22:21, Mark 12:17, Luke 20:25), the goal of this habit is to be intentional every day with practicing obedience to rightful authority in your life. Determine what specifically you will obey (spiritual direction is recommended), and use habit strategies and these examples to help you obey rightful authority every day:
-
Follow the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20:1-17, Deuteronomy 5:6-21)
-
Perform an honest day of work.
-
Follow guidance from religious community, spiritual director, and professional counselor.
-
Comply with laws (civil, traffic, etc.)
