Pray Without Ceasing

To pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) is to grow in virtue, which leads to true happiness. The goal is to pray as often as we can throughout every day, starting with a short prayer after waking up and before going to sleep and growing from there. The following are examples of ways to pray without ceasing every day, but let the Holy Spirit move you as to when and what to pray whether it's on this list or not:

  • Pray the Morning Offering when you wake up and the Examen before you go to sleep.

  • Pray the Angelus at 6am, 12pm, and 6pm. Start with just the 6am prayer, then grow from there.

  • Pray the Rosary throughout the day. Consider praying one decade at a time throughout the day to pray all of that day's mysteries, then grow from there to pray more than one set of mysteries throughout the day.

  • Pray the Liturgy of the Hours in the morning, midday, and evening. Start with just the morning prayer, then grow from there.

  • Pray other prayers throughout the day as desired.
